Gleason is looking for a "party builder??"

Recently, PaGOP party chair Rob Gleason apparently criticized Sarah Palin.  “I don’t think theater wins elections,” he stated in regard to her bus tours.  “I am looking for party builders.”

Wouldn’t you think the Chair of the state GOP would know something about party-building?  Shouldn’t his opinion carry…

State GOP interferes in Cambria County Republican Primary

According to incumbant Republican County Commissioner Sam Valenty, the state GOP spent over $10,000 trying to defeat him by picking sides in the May Republican Primary.

"They could not control me, so they didn't want me in," stated Valenty on Altoona Public Access tv this past Thursday.

The county gop voted to endorse Valenty's competitors Mark Wissinger and Doug Lengenfelder.  Out of a full committee of over 200 members, only a couple dozen were present in…

Do Not Pay for What You Do Not Want

When you go out shopping, do you write out a check for things you do not want? Neither do I. With shopping we get choices, I can buy a satiny red dress or a blue tailored suit, designer jeans or a linen skirt. And I don't write out the check until I have made my choice!. Applying the same strategy to political campaigns, I want to make my choice on the Republican Primary ballot, before I write out my check. My choice, however, is worthless if the State Committee through its endorsement policy… Continue

Focus on Peace: A Peace Movement for Everyone

Like most libertarians I want to advocate for peace. I’ve worked with the left’s peace movement and have been frustrated by the fact that they insist on attaching their social and economic agendas to their activism. They then strangely say they have an "inclusive" peace movement. An excerpt from "An Inclusive Antiwar Movement?" illustrates this point well:

Libertarians are…

Somerset County GOP Chair ignores write-ins for vacant committee spots

It has come to our attention that the Chairman of the Somerset County GOP intentionally ignored write-in votes for dozens of vacant committee person seats on the May 2010 ballot.

The Philadelphia GOP was threatened with a lawsuit last year when they tried to do the exact same thing.  The Philadelphia GOP then took the write-in candidates.

Northeast caucus meeting

The Northeast Caucus met in Clark Summit on Saturday, Feb. 5th.  There were 3 candidates for the Superior court position and only one candidate for the Commonwealth Court present at the meeting.  They each were given time to tell about themselves and each entertained questions. After the candidates left the room, there was some discussion concerning the candidates, then ballots were distributed.  There were 18 possible votes from committee members.  The result of the NE Caucus straw poll was…

As a newly elected State Committee woman from York County let me share with you my experience at the Central Caucus meeting which was held in January.  This is where we were supposed to have an opportunity to vet the candidates who are running for Superior Court and Commonwealth Court.  It was an absolute joke.  The candidates had 5 minutes to speak and then we were given 10 minutes to ask questions.  Most of the candidates said they wouldn't run if they didn't receive the endorsement.  I…

Sen. O'Pake's Seat Special Election

All of you are aware by now of the recent passing of PA State Senator Michael O’Pake, who represented Reading and a large portion of Berks County (11th senatorial district) in the state senate. There will be a special election held on Tuesday, March 15th to fill this vacancy and we have a chance to participate in this electoral process.

eligability, if you are going to make this argument would you please a least get it right

none of you pursuing this argument realize the left is pulling us into a trap, they are keeping the argument on whether or not the pres has a birth cert,

because they do not want us to pursue the indisputable fact that his father was not a US citizen,

to be eligible for president a person must be "Natural Born" a natural Born citizen means: you and also your parents must be born as citizens and… Continue

Should Democrats serve on local Republican Committees?? No, really!

A source reports that in a western county, the county GOP Chairman says it's "ok" for his Democrat friend to serve on the county GOP Executive Committee!  After all, they're friends!

This source says she had to "beg" the employee at the county Elections office to provide her with a copy of the GOP Committee bylaws, which are supposed to be open to the public.  She stated that the Democratic bylaws had a note on them which said "closed to the public."

Do you still think our GOP…

Do We Value Self-Government?

(Or Do We Prefer to allow the “Professionals” to run things?)

Do you feel you are better off making decisions for yourself and your family, or would you prefer that a politician or some government bureaucrat do it for you?

If you are like most people, you probably prefer to make decisions for yourself. You may or may not feel that others are capable of doing the same. Therein lies the problem of government.

Who shall be permitted to govern themselves? It might be those, if… Continue

Chairman Gleason Refuses to Recognize Motion during New Business

Multiple sources claim that State GOP Chairman Gleason refused to recognize a motion from the floor during the New Business portion of the state committee meeting this past weekend and immediately adjourned the meeting without the appropriate motion from the floor to do so.

We are awaiting an official report from committee members who were present.

"Help Support the Pa GOP???"

Today I got an email from House Minority Leader John Boehner, who will be the keynote speaker at this weekend's state committee meeting in Harrisburg, asking me to "support the Pa GOP." Well, actually the email comes from state committee.

Let's take a look at whether or not local Pennsylvania Republicans ought to send the state committee two cents.

Let's see. In February of this year the majority of state committee members voted to endorse statewide candidates not just BEFORE… Continue

The Progressive States Network: Undermining Liberty one State at a Time

Here is a post from my blog. I don't know if anyone here has heard of this group.

We know that the Tea Parties are trying to accomplish change at the state level. We know that blogs, such as this one, are attempting to inform and educate. We know that there are many Conservative organizations that are attempting to save this Republic in innumerable ways. People are energized and active as never before. Better yet, more and more people are reading the founding documents, and are…

Dear Patriots!

Dear Patriots,

These are truly "the times that try men's souls." We have all fought the good fight, we have given up times with our families, we have given up money for transportation, donations, etc...we have rallied and protested in opposition of this tyrannical takeover of our Country, we have called, emailed, faxed and visited our Non-Representative…

Thank You, and an Offer

I'm the admin of a blog, the Conservative Hideout 2.0. I wanted to thank everyone for their efforts in fighting the GOP establishment.

I had only become aware of those issues in the last several months. I had attended a Tea Party event in Scranton where I found out about this effort. As a blogger, I've spent the last 18 months covering national issues. I simply had no idea about the local efforts. Let's just say that…

Criticism of Beck supporters by Republican Committeeman

I wanted to share with you this interesting letter from today's Altoona Mirror:

It was frustrating to read the Aug. 3 story about Congressman Shuster's public meeting ("Shuster gets an earful at event").

The sort of bizarre, foolish questions and comments he had to endure from a handful of people apparently claiming to be "conservatives" were not representative of the Republican party.

These individuals and their statements lead me to believe that they are…

No taxes on those earning less than $250k???

Much has been made of the fact that families making less than $250,000 a year will not see their taxes raised. Of course they won't see it, because what they see could affect how they vote. But when huge tax increases are put on electric utility companies, the people will see electricity bills go up. When huge taxes are put on other businesses as well, they will see the prices of the things those businesses sell go up. If you are not in that "rich" category, you may not see…
